Rowing enjoys a reputation
for graceful strength and the supreme physical fitness of those
who participate in the sport. Olympic events, Henley Royal Regatta
and the University Boat race are firmly embedded in our national
sporting consciousness but, at the other end of the scale, rowing
is an activity enjoyed by men and women of all ages and from all
walks of life. Those who have discovered the sheer joy of the sport
at whatever age or level of competence come together with the specific
aim of rowing to the very best of their abilities. Whether competitive
or purely for the fun of it, Llandaff rowing club and rowing in
general continues to grow in popularity.
Water and land based training at all levels is ongoing throughout
the year, rain or shine, though we do most strongly advise sticking
to land training whenever the Taff ducks are seen legging it full-tilt
for the shelter of the Boathouse.
Coaching and
equipment is available free of charge to Club Members. Should
individuals or groups require specific training programmes,
coaching can be arranged via the Club Captain.
A comprehensive
facility, opened by Rhodri Morgan MP, includes a Weights Room
containing an excellent range of Multi-gym equipment and weights.
The room provides complete training facilities for the dedicated sportsman or sportswoman, fitness enthusiast or those just wishing to keep in trim.
An adjacent room houses four Concept II rowing ergometers, which
complement the weights equipment.
In addition, a separate gymnasium is available for circuit training,
aerobic classes or similar functions. This space is also available
for hire.
Changing rooms with hot showers are available on site.
The Llandaff landing stage situated behind the Clubhouse is available
for use, by associated members to boat their canoes or any other craft.
If you are training for other sports (i.e. runner, cyclist or canoeist
etc.) and would like to shower and change afterwards, the changing
rooms and showers are spacious and have plenty of hot water.
The club bar, situated upstairs of the Clubhouse, is available for
socialising during opening hours.
