The Learn 2 Row course is a scheme for anyone aged 18 or over who wants to try rowing for the first time. Learn 2 Row will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the sport and the chance to take part in both land based exercises and training sessions on the river. The course will take place over 3 weeks with 2 sessions per week, each lasting roughly 2 hours. By the end of the course you will be able to competently row our 500m regatta course in a crew along with 3 other rowers.

All of the coaches are members of Llandaff Rowing Club and have competed for Llandaff around the country. At no point in the course will you be expected to do anything you are not 100% comfortable with, but we do ask that you fully commit yourself to the sessions in order to get the most out of them. We also ask that you only commit to this course if you are prepared and able to complete it as demand is high and spaces limited.

Course Content

Week 1: Introductions, course overview, health & safety, tour of facilities, introduction to equipment, technique session in the “tank”, introduction to rowing machine technique.
Week 2: Technique in the tank, river session, introduction to land training.
Week 3: Technique in the tank, river session, team competition event, evaluation

The total cost of the course will be £50. A non-refundable deposit of £20 will be required to secure a place on the course. For those who then go on to join the club a discount of £25 will be offered off their full membership price.
