- Ross/Glouc Regatta
What a way to end the season!
The club came first in the GBR 07 Challenge, the club with the largest number of race wins in 8s, 4s and 4x over the four August Bank Holiday regattas, with 20 points, almost twice as many as second placed Cantabrigian who scored 11. The prize - a Swift Single Scull - is a welcome and unexpected addition to our single sculling fleet which we are in the process of regenerating. This is a great result for the club, reflecting our standing in the region, a good performance across all sections and a fantastic level of participation. There were some significant qualifying wins in large fields with strong competition. Winning the Challenge is a real credit both to the club's rowing and to our organisation. There is a long list of people who are major contributors to this success and it should be seen as a reward to the club as a whole. I would, however like to highlight Simon Spiller and Andy Hollins for the unfailing efforts they have made throughout the season dealing with huge volume of regatta entries and the consequent transport requirements.
Of course it is not the end of the season for the veteran section. They have the FISA World Masters in Zargreb on 6 - 9 September, and don't forget to start planning ahead for the Tideway head races in the autumn.

- Club Meeting 'Llandaff Rowing Development Plan'
There will be a meeting for all members at 8pm in the club on Thursday, 13th September to present, discuss and develop the Rowing Development Plan - Llandaff 2012. There has been considerable progress since the notice scoping the plan was sent to members earlier this year. This meeting will cover what we want to achieve, what it will mean to you, implications for the management and finances of the club, where we need to focus and a plan of action. Over the last year different aspects of the plan have been trialled and we have been taking advice from experienced people within and outside the club. Your input is now vital to ensure the club's development plan is what you want and it is going to be successful.

- Message from the Chairman
A big thank you to everyone for making the regatta successful last weekend - and in particular to the regatta committee who take the brunt of the work load on behalf of the club. Work for them starts each year around October for the following year, so it is a significant commitment. It was exceptionally hard this year to hold the regatta at all given the conditions and a credit to the whole club and our officials that the whole programme could be run with only a few modifications. Given how many regattas in our region have been cancelled this year it was great to have persevered and succeeded - many people have said how much the enjoyed the weekend. So thanks again for putting on a great event. It's good for the sport and the club
