9,038km challenge – Cardiff to Wuhan

Due to Covid-19 pandemic and the current lockdown, we are unable to train at the club – doing our part with social distancing and unnecessary travel. In order to keep up our fitness, we are using our daily exercise to stay fit, ready for when the regatta season starts back.

A group from the masters’ and seniors’ squads, have set up a challenge and are using thier time exercising to raise money for two charities ‘Noah’s Ark‘ – the children’s hospital for Wales and ‘Refuge‘ – For women and children against domestic voilence.

The challenge is to make up the distance from Cardiff to Wuhan, China, where it is believed the pandemic first occured. The distance is 9,038km, and the group have decided to do this distance through, rowing (ergo – rowing machine), running and cycling.

The challenge started at the beginning of May, and in just a month ‘WE DID IT!!

Not only did we achieve the row, run and cycle to Wuhan but with our final distance we passed and headed for the East of China! Amazing!! and we’re now ready for the regatta season.

It is not too late to donate and help raise more for the two charities. You can donate by going to the ‘Just Giving’ website and search for ‘Llandaff Rowing Club’. Or click onto the links below.
